Vending machines are by far one of the most convenient things to come out of modern technology. You just put the money in and out comes a cold drink! But what if you took vending machines to the next level, and offered all sorts of different items? Japan has done just that! From food to flowers, here are ten weird vending machines you can find in Japan!

Now hold on, aren’t drinks normally what you get out of vending machines? Well yes, but usually it’s things like water or sodas and they’re almost always cold! In Japan, you can get hot drinks too, even from the same vending machine you’d find cold drinks in. There are also whole vending machines for just alcoholic beverages too!

Banana vending machines are becoming more and more common because of what an easy snack they are for people on the go. You can buy them in either singles or whole bunches!

3. Fresh Produce

Similar to the banana vending machines, you can find machines selling farm fresh fruits and veggies as well. These machines are usually owned and maintained by the farmers themselves. Egg vending machines are also very popular!

In Japan, it’s considered rude to not where a mask when feeling ill. Therefore, it’s common to be able to buy one cheaply at a vending machine, usually found in the bathroom.

The wether can change on a dime in Japan, so umbrella vending machines are great so as to not be caught out in the rain! You can even find rental umbrella machines, where you return it when you’re done!

Finishing this list off with one of the weirder items, canned bread can be found in many food vending machines. They stay fresh and mess free until you’re ready to eat them, and come in lots of fun and sweet flavors from strawberry to caramel!

Conclusion

While a bit on the stranger side, vending machines, or “Jidouhanbaiki”, are one of the funnest things to see when visiting Japan. They line the streets and are literally everywhere you go! There’s over 5.5 million of them in Japan, which is one to every 20 or so people!
